School Eligibility
Judging and Awards
A minimum of five CTL judges will be attending the participating productions. All of the judges have significant theatrical experience both onstage and offstage. None of the judges are involved in any of this year’s participating productions. A student judge from each participating school will also attend each show. Student judges will not judge their own school's show(s) whether they themselves participate or not. Student judges who participate in their school's productions are eligible for nominations and awards.
Awards will include Best Actor and Best Actress (musical and non-musical), Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress (musical and non-musical), Best Featured Performer (musical and non-musical), Best Ensemble, Best Musical, Best Play, the Ray Phillips Best Program Award. Nominees will be announced in early May. The actual awardees will be kept secret until the Awards Ceremony.
The judges have the authority to add awards. For example, if a student crew is particularly adept at complicated scene changes, the judges may recognize their effort with an award.
Each of the judges has an Adjudicator’s Score Sheet, for each production. A blank form is available on this website, however judges’ scoring and deliberations are confidential.
Each winner will receive an honorarium and trophy. Best Musical and Best Play winners will receive an monetary award for their school's drama program.
