The Awards
Ceremony
The 2010 Ray of Light Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 16, 2010, 7 p.m.
at The Community Arts Center, 220 West Fourth Street, Williamsport. The event is
semi-formal and is styled after the Oscars® and the Tonys®.
College
Scholarships
An honorarium/scholarship will be given to each of the individual award winners
(Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress).
Red Carpet
We have a “red carpet” experience for the students as they arrive at the
Community Arts Center for the Rays. There will be music and photographers stationed outside the theatre between
5:30 and 7:00 p.m.
Musical Numbers
The Awards Ceremony will open with a group musical number featuring a small
ensemble from each of the participating schools. The evening will also include
musical numbers from some of the participating high schools at the invitation of
the judges.
Reception
afterward
There will be a reception for nominees & their parents, all students who
performed in their school shows, dignitaries, and presenters after the awards
ceremony in the Capitol Lounge. The reception will begin immediately after
the awards ceremony (around 9:00 p.m.) and will continue until 11:00 p.m.
Tickets
Tickets for the ceremony are $15 for adults and $10 for students. The tickets VIP Reception are by invitation only.
Each nominee will be given three tickets to the ceremony. Additional students participating in the judged plays and musicals are invited to watch the ceremony, free of charge, from the loge and balcony. Complimentary tickets will be made available through their instructor. The Awards Ceremony and Reception are formal (black tie optional).
Eligible Schools & Entry Fees
All high schools within a 30 mile radius of Williamsport are eligible. The entry fees for schools within Lycoming County are $50 for a play and $100 for a musical--schools outside Lycoming County add $25. CTL does not wish that the entry fee to be a determining factor for a school or drama group. If financial hardship exists, contact the CTL business office for more information on financial assistance.
The first 20 productions entered will be adjudicated. Entry forms and fees must be received by September 30 for Fall semester productions, or by October 31 for Spring productions.
Event Details
There will be a dress rehearsal/set up time beginning at noon on May 16 to rehearse the group number(s), and work out the logistics of the event. The students in the invited production numbers will be given a chance to practice their song on the stage prior to the actual ceremony. Each school is permitted a transportable set piece or pieces to use with their number.
