Grades K & 1
Join Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and Benjamin Bunny as CTL visits The English Lakes through the stories, books, and illustrations of Beatrix Potter and her Hilltop Farm. We'll join and become her animal friends, re-enact and make up our own stories, and share tea with our families in a culminating celebration on the last day of class.
Grades K & 1 July 28-Aug. 1 9:30 am-12:30 pm Instructor: Julia Hulslander $65 Come join the fun, using your imagination to become various familiar and unfamiliar characters. Through theatre games, pantomime, group participation storytelling and re-enactment of classic tales, we'll turn "ONCE UPON A TIME..." into "ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE!" Parents are invited to join the fun during class on August 1.
Grades 2 & 3 July 21-25 9:30 am-12:30 pm Instructor: Julia Hulslander $65 Explore! Experience! Imagine! Students will develop their acting skills through improvisation games, pantomime, character development, and other basic theatre techniques. Opportunities abound for story re-enactments and original skit presentations. There will be a performance for family and friends on July 25 at Noon.
Grades 4 & 5 July 21-25 1:30-4:30 pm Instructor: Julia Hulslander $65 A great way to introduce older elementary students to theatre. They will hone their skills through improv, mime, character development, and other basic theatre techniques that are fun for tweens. Original skits and short plays will be the focus of the performance for family and friends on July 25 at 5 pm.
Where There's WILL, There's a Play Grades 5, 6, & 7 July 21-25, 28-Aug. 1 1-4 pm Instructor: Steve Hulslander $120 Going back to the beginning, there's no great teacher than The Bard himself, William Shakespeare. Students will work on projection, inflection, and interpretation, while incorporating vignettes from Shakespeare (Macbeth, Midsummer Night's Dream, and The Tempest), several sonnets, and soliloquies. The class will showcase their shorts in a performance for family and friends on August 1 at 8 pm.
Grades 6, 7, & 8 July 7-11, 14-18 1:30 am-4:30 pm Instructor: Marie Fox $120 This workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to learn quick thinking and creative scene building skills through various activities in improvisation. Participants will be able to observe and perform with these guest actors from WAHS’s improvisation troupe, “Without a Cue.” Throughout the course, we will work towards a final performance on July 18th at 6:30 pm to demonstrate mastery of the improvisation activities. The Director's Cut Grades 9 thru 12 July 7-11, 14-18 9:30-12:30 pm Instructor: Lorrie Staivisky $120 High school students with a serious interest in dramas and/or comedies will have an opportunity to sit in the director's chair. Each participant will direct their classmates in a short play. They will also perform in various scenes directed by their classmates. Character and scene study, directing and acting techniques, and staging will be explored. Family and friends are invited to a performance of the plays on July 18 at 8 pm. |
Grades 2 & 3
We are out to create Broadway-Ready-Actors That-Sing! Using kid-friendly showtunes, these B.R.A.T.S. will improve their stage presence, vocal projection, singing techniques, and dance skills for a showcase at the end of camp. Session 1's performance will be July 11 at Noon, and Session 2's performance will be July 18 at Noon.
Grades 4 & 5 July 21-25, 28-Aug. 1 9 am-noon Instructor: Jacquie Engel $120 The members of the insect population demand the respect and positive attention they have lacked for so long. Children will work to improve their singing and acting abilities as the bugs finally march on the White House to present their "Bugs Bill of Rights" in a humorous mix of rhyming lines and fun songs. Parents and friends are invited to a performance of Goin' Buggy on August 1 at 6:30 pm.
Grades 6, 7, & 8 July 28-Aug. 1, Aug. 4-8 2-5 pm Instructor: Jacquie Engel $140 ***Note: This class will require Wednesday and Thursday evening rehearsals from July 2 to 17. Auditions will be held June 21 at 7 pm. The timeless fairy tale meets the magic of Disney in this adaptation of the treasured animated film. With a beautiful score including "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," and "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," there are lots of parts to go around and class size is limited to 20. Performances of the show will be held on Aug. 8 & 9 at 7:30 pm and Aug. 10 at 2 pm. Tickets are 4 for $25 or $8 each. Grades 9 thru 12 July 7-11, 14-18 1-5 pm Instructor: Tess Bower Gist $120 High school students with a serious interest in musicals and improving their vocal abilities will have a private voice lesson and 2 "master" classes each week where they will prepare individual and group songs to be performed in a recital on July 19 at 7:30 pm. (***Note: NOT a beginner course. Some experience necessary.)
